National Craft Month – Hurray for Crochet!
March is National Craft Month, which means it’s time to talk about something near and dear to my creative little heart: making things with your hands. Real things. Beautiful things. Things that require patience, creativity, and maybe a cup of coffee sitting next to you while you figure out what on earth you just did three rows back.

Every year when Black History Month rolls around, I find myself reflecting on legacy, creativity, innovation… and where I’m putting my dollars. Because celebration is cute. But circulation of money? That’s power.
For my final post of Black History Month, I’m spotlighting something near and dear to my design-loving, small-business-supporting heart: Black Etsy sellers. The makers. The artists. The creatives, building beautiful things from their homes, studios, kitchen tables, and late-night bursts of genius.

As I’ve been reflecting on my journey as a Maker and Artist and how it took me almost all of my life to realize that I was indeed a Maker and Artist. I’d been taught all my life to be creative and am well versed in Crochet, Knitting, Sewing, Quilting, Macrame, Interior Design and other creative and DIY endeavors. But when it was time to actually pick a career, it didn’t even occur to me to pursue the Creative Arts.
Designer & Diy’er pumped up on caffeine and willing to create anything. I want to let women know they can do it and if they don’t want to, I will.
