House Beautiful had their fifth annual Showhouse and it was fabulous! I had never been to a Showhouse this beautiful before, but what did I expect? House Beautiful is one of my favorite magazines and they did their thing. Instead of building a house they found a house in Atlanta and wanted to bring it back to its former glory. Located in Chastain Park, the house is Tudor style and 11,000 square feet. Twelve designers participated in the project: Ariene Bethea, Ashley Gilbreath, Brynn Olsen, DuVal Reynolds, Jonathan Savage, Keia McSwain, Leanne Ford, Lisa Adams, Mark Williams, Niki Papadopoulos, Whittney Parkinson and Zoe Feldman.
I was snapping photos every few seconds because it was so inspiring, but I’ll try to narrow down some of the key design points that I saw in the house.
The first design element was the tile used in all of the bathrooms. It was insane; every bathroom you went into was better than the last.
The Master Bedroom was spectacular with a huge vaulted ceiling covered in wood. When I first saw the light fixture, I had to clutch my pearls because it was EVERYTHING!!!!! There was even a huge oil painting on the wall which I thought was something I would never think of including but it was very impactful. The closets were awesome of course and included a temperature controlled compartment in the woman’s closet.
There was a den before you entered the Master Suite that you never knew you needed covered in a beautiful deep green.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the Living Room was the huge rattan chaise. That was definitely the focal point of the room. After all of the rooms that were colorful and/or moody, this kind of made you take a deep breath and relax even though there was a lot of pattern going on all the way up to the ceiling.
The next thing I wanted to focus on is the trend of dark jewel tones. This particular house had a couple of designers use the color of eggplant/plum/burgundy. This was in the Study and what’s called the WFH Zone.
The Kitchen and Pantry was such a mashup of Old World and Modern convenience. The Pantry almost looked like a room you would want to hang out in.
Last but not least was the Outdoor Area. From a ping pong table to an outdoor kitchen, a pool, a fireplace, an eating area, there was something for everyone.
I could go on and on because I literally was swooning in every room, but I wanted to show you the highlights. If you ever get a chance to go to this wonderful Showhouse, please do. You’ll be hyperventilating just like I was. Please let me know if you went to this one and what you thought in the comments.
