This will be a two part series on faux plants with this blog post focusing on faux trees. Part two will focus on potted plants and stems.
I’ve found that you get what you pay for so trees can be pricey but it really pays off with realism. If you go the cheap route, you will find that the front of the leaves may look real but the manufacturers have paid no attention to the back of the leaves. So unless you make sure the leaves are all turned to the front, I would suggest biting the bullet and paying the higher price cause nobody has time for that.
I’ve noticed that the faux trees have gotten so much better and they’re not your Grandma’s faux trees anymore. Gone are the dusty ficus trees that everybody had in the corner that looked like it was made out of plastic.
As you can see below, the new ficus trees are infinitely better.
Olive Trees
Olive trees have recently taken the place of fiddle leaf figs as the new trend. Olive trees lend themselves to all of the trending decor styles such as Modern Desert, Modern Rustic, Modern Organic as well as traditional Tuscan, Farmhouse and even Traditional which is making it’s way back into our lives.
Fiddle Leaf Figs
Fiddle leaf figs are still trending because Boho will never go out of style and it goes with Japandi also, which is hot right now.
Cactus
I’m really into cactus for the first time in my life and I think it’s because of their striking architectural shapes and I’m really drawn to the Modern Desert style too.
Palm Trees
Palm trees really make a statement. I personally like the type of palms that don’t necessarily look like you’re in a tropical location. The ones below could go with any design style.
Snake Plants
Technically these aren’t really trees but they can be quite tall so I’m putting them in this category. I love these because of their verticality so they are perfect for a blank corner of the room that you need to fill up.
Unique Trees
Below are a Yucca, a Monstera, a Bamboo Tree and an Autumn Eucalyptus Tree. Any of these would add something unique to your decor.
Part Two will be coming soon and will cover potted plants and stems. Let me know if you have any other sources or have a favorite that’s not on this list.
