Summertime…..and the living is easy. I like to have fun with my manicures and pedicures in the Summer, don’t you? I feel like colored nails and nail design is such a creative way of expressing yourself. Even if you’re conservative in your dress or you’re not into patterns, you can have all the fun on your nails. This summer there’s a million ways to express yourself on your nails from colors, to designs and even the shape of your nails.
I’m going to focus on relatively short nails in a squoval or oval shape because that’s what I like since I’m such a DIY girlie, it’s the most practical. If that’s your jam also, take a look at some of the trending types of nail colors and designs.
Colored French Tips
I started with french tips because that’s a pretty standard manicure for most people. But the new trend is to add color to the tip. Check out these options for a new spin on the french manicure.
Out of all the colors trending this year, I think yellow is the most popular in fashion and design. These yellow tips are just enough pop.
Green is my favorite color, so these mint green tips on this oval shape is really chic.

Metallics are always in, so try gold like these nails below.
If you can’t make up your mind, just put a different color on each nail.
Jelly Nails
Korean jelly nails are here with a bang for summer! They’re everywhere. It makes your nails look like they’re wearing lip gloss and are a little see-through, but I think of those old school jelly shoes when I see them and I’m dying to try it.
Pink jellies are so sweet in this oval shape.

Red is still hot for Summer and these really look like jellies.
Not quite fuschia, this shade of pink is very sexy.
Green jelly with cherries. What’s not to love?
This design is actually called boba nails after the boba tea that’s so popular in Korea and now the United States.
Pastel Ombre & Aura
Pastels have been trending since last year and the nails are following suit. Ombre and Aura nails go hand in hand because they both start with colors that blend together from lighter to darker, either monochrome or with complementary colors. Aura nails are a little different because they start with color in the middle of the nail and then blends it outward.
These pink pastel ombre nails blend from pale to white and are so pretty.
These pastel ombre nails are a little different with complementary colors blending vertically on the nail bed.
Check out these aura nails with the emphasis on the color in the middle blending outward to a different color. So cool.

These aura nails are just peachy keen.
Lavender aura nails and the oval nail shape make these so elegant.
Trending Solid Colors
If you’re just looking for a solid nail color, I got you. From pastels to quirky colors, this year’s trending colors have something for everyone this summer.
This acid green is a little edgy and is one of my favorites.
Baby blue was all over the runway and I’m here for it. Perfect for a summer vacation.
This is Pantone’s color of the year, Peach Fuzz, so you would definitely be on trend with this peachy shade and it goes with practically every color.
Butter Yellow was all over the runways too and in my adulthood, I’ve gotten a new appreciation for yellow in general. I think I would love this on my toes.
Watermelons Nails – Just For Fun
These abstract watermelon nails are so elegant to me.

Seedless watermelon. LOL
The one nail with the watermelon rind does it for me.
Hot pink and a party on just one nail. So much fun.
I could go on and on about nails this summer, but I guess I’ll stop here. So much cuteness. Please tell me in the comments whether you do fun designs or color on your nails for the summer.
See ya next time.
