I just went to the Southeastern Showhouse in Atlanta this past weekend and let me tell you, it was fabulous. There were so many interior design, art and styling ideas that I was almost hyperventilating going from room to room. This is my thing; going to showhouses and model homes and even open houses. I just love design and get so much inspiration from them.
The house was somewhat unassuming from the outside but once you got inside it opened up and seemed to go on and on. As we rode up to the house in a shuttle from a designated parking lot a few miles away, we saw the sign for the showhouse and I got so excited.
Foyer
After we checked in, we went inside and this is the first thing we saw. This drop dead gorgeous that hung from the upstairs down to the basement. The metal antique gold birds on the wall were a nice touch too.
This fabulous light fixture was on the wall opposite the drop pendant. I must say the lighting in this house was one of the best parts. I’m a sucka for a good light fixture.
Office
The office was very dramatic with the wallpapered ceiling and pearl necklace lights. The wall were a light wood paneling that went so well with the dark ceiling.
Here’s a full view of the desk area. Love the touches of aqua.
Living Room
Once you walked into the living room, it really opened up into this great room. The oversized art on the right was everything.
Here’s a straight view of the living room. Love the plaster fireplace with all of the brass touches.
Kitchen
The kitchen was very calming and neutral with touches of pewter and all of the appliances were hidden behind wooden panels. Very chic.
I loved this vignette with the onions. They also had a bowl of garlic bulbs on the other side of the room. Such a great idea.
I loved the little breakfast nook in the kitchen. It was very different from the kitchen in terms of palette but it worked. I especially loved the gold framed oil painting.
Sitting Room
This sitting room was a cute little place to sit down, relax and get away from everybody. The surprise was that there were not only sliding doors but floor to ceiling screens that opened up automatically with a remote.
What a fun thing to do to “old school” busts.
Powder Room
This powder room was so striking with the blush walls and pink marble vanity. Maybe not everyone’s taste but if you’re going to try something new design-wise, the powder room is the perfect place.
Primary Suite
The primary bedroom was very floral and I mean very floral. I’m sorry to say I did not take a picture of it so I called my colleague, who I went with, and asked her if she could send me a picture of it and you.know what? She didn’t take a picture of it either. Hmmmm. It wasn’t my taste, but I still should have taken a photo to show you guys.
The primary bathroom was fantastic. The marble in the bathroom with the floral arrangement was “chef’s kiss”. There was a big window in there with a button that would automatically frost the panes for privacy too.
The double vanity had the same marble as the shower and it was so pretty in person.
I could actually live in this closet or at least take a nap on the chaise.
All the clothes they used to style this closet were neutral so it made it even more pleasing to the eye.
Well, this is the end of Part 1 – the Main Floor. All in all, I loved this showhouse which I usually do, but in this one it seems that the designers really took chances and came up with so many different design elements.
Stay tuned for Part 2 (Upstairs) and 3 where we go to the basement and outside spaces. Let me know what was your favorite part.
See ya next time.
