I get so much inspiration from Showhouses that you’ll probably get sick of me talking about them. Not only do they give me ideas, but they’re designed by interior designers who are on the frontlines of what’s going to be the new colors, trends and products in the upcoming year.
Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine did it again with their Holiday Home back in December. Aside from the Christmas decorations, I spotted several trends that I will be using in 2023.
The first one is oversized art. Don’t get me wrong, gallery walls will always be in but oversized art is having a moment and I’ve been seeing overscale art everywhere. It works particularly well if you are decorating a house as you will have less art pieces to include and it makes a big impact with just one piece.
They had several overscale art pieces scattered around the house, but the one below really stood out.
The next trend is wallpaper and this house had wallpaper in just about every room. In the photos below, there was wallpaper behind the bar, behind the bed in the owner’s suite, in the powder room and even on the ceiling.
Vignettes are the next trend that I can really get behind. It gives the space a personal touch by making it seem like someone was just using the space. Like a bench with a throw and some coffee table books and a sink that looks like someone is in the process of making a meal.
The next trend is texture on the walls. The first photo has cutting boards displayed around and over a doorway. I thought this was such a striking way to take things that would just be in a cabinet and turn it into art. The second photo has rustic wooden bowls hung on the wall of the guest bath.
I know I will be trying some of these ideas out in the coming weeks. I’ve already started on some oversize art which I will be sharing with you soon.
Also the cutting board idea is speaking to me. I sort of collect them and I have an empty wall on the side of my double ovens that would be perfect to display them.
Until next time……
