Vintage shopping, thrifting, salvaging and then decorating with it is kinda my thing. I think it’s because when I was a little girl growing up in Connecticut, my parents always thrifted and salvaged old things and turned them into totally new things.
Some examples were a bridle that they made into a mirror, an old pump made into a lamp, a pickle barrel with an old wagon wheel on top with a glass top, milk cans with tractor seats welded on top and so much more. They would also take vintage architectectural pieces and everyday items and hang them on the walls like art.
My mother was also the one who would get antique pieces of furniture, strip them and then restain. I guess I learned how to do all of this by osmosis so vintage and antique shopping/decorating is in my blood.
I just went to the Scott’s Antique Market and as always, it gave me all the feels. I took so many pictures to share with you and I’m excited to know what you think. Here’s some information on the market and if you’re ever in the Atlanta area, you have to go here. It’ll make you so happy!

Founded in 1998 by Don Scott, Scott’s Antique Markets has become one of the premier antique shows in the Southeast. There’s also a location in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve been to the market several times over the years and I still think I haven’t seen everything. Spanning multiple buildings and areas outside, it offers a vast selection of antiques, collectibles, and vintage goods. With over 3,500 vendors across its locations, Scott’s Antique Markets is a paradise for antique enthusiasts. Don Scott got his start in the antique business by selling items he salvaged from his job as a demolition contractor! Four generations are now running the markets.
Metals
If you love brass as much as I do, you’ll love their collections of brass. There are several vendors with all the brass you could ever want.
Here’s more brass including vintage brass plates and sconces to be hung on the wall.
If you’re more into silver, you will not be left out. Also, check out the blue & white delft in the background.
There was a half price sale going on and the owner said he spent two days polishing all of it.
If copper is your thing, check out the Olde British booth. I love copper pots and ladles, but when I saw those oversized pitchers, I died. The patina on them was so beautiful.
I love vintage milk cans and I’ve never seen one in copper.
Art
If you’ve in the market for art, there’s something for everyone. Vintage posters are so colorful and they literally go with any design style.
What goes better with oil paintings than vintage gold frames?
I met this wonderful artist Cristina from Easterbrook Studio and these were painted directly on plywood on top of a plaster base. The pictures don’t do these justice because they were absolutely beautiful.
This was just laying in a pile of stuff and I thought it was so dope.
Concession Stand
There were three different concession stands, but this is the one near the front door and I needed coffee really bad!!! Trying to drink coffee, take pictures and look at stuff was not the business. I spilled some coffee on my shirt so I went back to sit down and chill until I drank all of my coffee.
Wood
I love wood so much and it doesn’t matter if it’s rustic or sophisticated. This woodworking vendor had such beautiful items carved into many decorative accessories like these turtles, a mirror and cutting boards. The live edge tables were stunning too.
These bamboo chairs caught my eye and the pieces in the background were beautiful also.
Clean these up and you could have the best charcuterie party. LOL Or you could just add some to your cutting board collection if you have one like me.
There were a lot of custom furniture vendors there which made me so excited for future projects.
Vintage wood doors are perfect for adding character to a new home or just to add some personality.
Miscellaneous Beautiful Things
They do have vintage clothing and this is the vendor that I gravitated to because she had beautiful cashmere items and then some cowhide and deer hide decor items. So beautiful.
This is just one of several Persian rug dealers. They also make pillows out of vintage rugs.
A whole section with ceramics.
These glass bowls were stunning!
Christmas
I just saw a commercial that said there’s just 11 more Wednesdays until Christmas and that put it all in perspective. It’s coming up so soon.
Outside
Going outside on this beautiful day was like going into another world. The first thing I saw was an extra long tables with African beads and fabrics on them. So colorful.
Check out this vintage gas and oil can. I know it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love them for the colors and the kitschiness of them.
A chaise lounge is always sexy and this cream leather tufted one stopped me dead in my tracks.
One vendor just laid out a few things on a vintage braided rug and I wanted everything on it.
My dream fire pit chair is an Adirondack and I’m keeping these in mind as soon as I get a fire pit. Haha
So then I entered the wonderland of the Garden Center. I think it’s a wonderland because it’s filled with quirky salvage items that fuel my imagination and encourages me to think outside the box. It’s always the section that makes my heart flutter.
Metal doors and grates that can be sandblasted and turned into literally anything you can come up with.
Corbels, corbels, corbels.
A wooden door and wood spindles.
You have to really get in and dig deep and you’ll find doors, spindles, windows, and even fireplace mantles.
I don’t even know how large this door was, but it was massive with a transom at the top!
If you’re looking for a vintage clawfoot tub or vintage sink, they’ve got you covered.
I almost screamed when I saw this. I wished I had a client that needed one of these on their roof.
My Mom had a few of these milk cans when I was growing up and I even have a red one now. The ones with the tops are perfect for either a cocktail table or extra seating.
Old wooden pillars.
Rusty metal outdoor furniture can easily be power washed and then powder coated with fun colors.
If you’re a collector, I also saw coins, paper money, glass paperweights, record albums, etc. I could go on and on about how much I love Scott’s Antiques Market. If you want to learn about more markets around the country, take a look at my previous blog posts, The Best Antique Fairs & Markets – Part 1 and The Best Antique Fairs & Markets – Part 2.
Let me know if you’ve ever been here and if you haven’t, let me know what your favorite one is in your neck of the woods.
See ya next time.
