My Trip to Asia Part 4 – Japan

Travel

As you can imagine, this whole trip was epic. We spent a few days in Hong Kong and then headed to Japan.  In this post, we’re headed into the last few days of the trip in Japan. If you’ve missed any of the blog posts, here they are:

Hong Kong – Part 1

Hong Kong – Part 2

Japan – Part 3

After the low-key events of the first Japan blog post, it was exciting to know we were going out into the city. These city scenes are so vibrant. Filled with colors and the hustle and bustle of a big city. I love it. We went sightseeing and shopping and I’m so glad I caught this scene.

Downtown Tokyo reminded me so much of New York City. Totally walkable, which I love. Shopping is huge in Tokyo and every store you could think of was represented here.

Heading to the Harajuku District, which is known for colorful street art, vintage clothing stores and trendy bars. We had the choice of taking the subway or walking but I chose to walk.

Me and my mother were looking for Japanese cotton fabrics for our quilting. So we asked around and found an out of the way spot and spent about an hour oohing and aahing. I didn’t even get pictures inside because we were so enthralled.

On one corner, we came upon people dancing and playing music. So much fun.

This UniQlo was the bomb. Obviously so much more items than in the United States and it had multiple stories.

It was so overcast this day, but everything was so green and I was so happy to be in Japan. I suck at selfies still, but I tried my best.

The Empress and Emperor’s Imperial Palace. I felt like I was back in the days of Shogun. If you know, you know.

Beautiful scenery with the bridge leading to the Palace.

Here’s another shot of the bridge leading to the Palace.

Our last night spent in Japan we walked around and just soaked up the scenery.

I know you’re wondering about the food right? I lost pictures in my digital camera due to a virus or something so I don’t have any food shots but you didn’t miss anything. I was rather disappointed because I thought I was going to have the best sushi of my life and I didn’t. I don’t know if it was because the tour company didn’t take us to the right spots or we just have superb sushi in the U.S. I suspect it was the former, but if I ever get back to Japan I will definitely check out the recommended places. We did have a Bento Box with Japanese food in it, but no tempura. Oh well.

I also lost some pictures of the Japanese Market where everybody was buying souvenirs but I didn’t really shop there. I shopped the most at Mount Fuji and the airport funnily enough. The airport actually had great prices on sake sets which several of my family members wanted.

You know how when you first go somewhere and you don’t know where to shop or what to buy? All in all, I loved this trip and I now know that on my next trip, I’ll be ready. Let me know if you’ve ever been to Hong Kong or Japan and what were your favorite things to do.

See ya next time.
