If you’re new here, that’s my dog Domi. Her full name is Daisy Domague from a character played by Jennifer Jason Leigh in the movie Hateful Eight. If you know, you know. I bet you’re wondering how I got myself in this predicament. Well, it all started with the pandemic and I was at home watching all of those sad dog commercials with the abused animals. I have always loved dogs, but I had a long commute to work (an hour) and I knew having a dog was a big responsibility. I didn’t want her to have to be at home for 9 hours plus Monday through Friday and putting her in doggy daycare never entered my mind at that point.

So when I found out we’d be working from home permanently, I pulled the trigger and started looking. I went to several shelters, but I didn’t feel a connection to any of the dogs. I did see that most of the dogs were pit bulls because people were scared of them and didn’t want to adopt them. It was so sad.

One day I was scrolling on a shelter website and saw a picture of a dog named Marley. She was at a foster home because a kill shelter in North Georgia was looking for homes for 2 dogs. So she was sent down to Atlanta, but the shelter was full so they got a family to take her in for a little while. Something about her picture made me keep thinking about her. I finally called and arranged to meet her at the foster home.

She came right up to me and I fell in love. So after filling out my application and getting a home inspection in which I had to get a gate for my fence before I could get her, I picked her up. After getting a puppuccino (or pup cup) at Starbucks she stepped over the threshold into my home, became Domi and my life hasn’t been the same.

So guys, this gift guide was a fun one. My dog inspired this list and I picked ones that I’ve gotten already or what I would love to get. For dog lovers, there’s nothing like getting something fun for your dog and seeing them wear it, play with it or eat it. I even made a stocking for my dog to put goodies in and she always has a wrapped present under the tree. She tears off the wrapping paper and it keeps her busy while we’re opening up our presents. This year I wanted to give you several items to choose from and I’ve broken them down into categories to make it easier for you.
