I have been waiting for the longest summer ever to end because here in Atlanta, it was sweltering with humidity, mosquitoes and scorching sun. It just tires you out and this one was hotter than it’s been in years if you’ve been watching the news. I can feel it, can’t you? It’s Fall ya’ll and I’m digging it. The slight nip in the air, the longing for a pumpkin spice latte and the football players gearing up for a great season; it’s the most wonderful time of the year. I love Fall in all its glory.

Anyhoo, I decided to make little vignettes around my house of Fall decor with stuff I already had because it’s not so intimidating when you break it up right? If I told myself I needed to decorate the whole house for Fall, I probably would procrastinate, but by breaking it up it seems much more manageable. Plus, by having little vignettes, I can make each one unique with a different palette and style.

I found this Fall wreath/spray thingy in a box in my attic and decided to take it apart and use some of the pieces. There were some other things on the bottom of the box that I would use later on my side table.

I had four areas I wanted to decorate; a side table, a display table, a dining room table and a coffee table. Since I shopped from my home, I provided you with a link to either the items I used and if I couldn’t find the exact item, I found something similar that would work also.

Dining Table

I love a good tablescape. Like I said, I created everything with pieces I already had around the house. I started with a cream and green table runner and a computer monitor stand. I started to build from there. A wooden bowl with apples, some fall napkins, a set of coasters, etc. For this one, I concentrated on four brown vases with stems for the large items and accents of green.

I always add at least two taper candles (with old thrifted candlestick holders) and fill in with things that maybe you wouldn’t think of, but would work in the color scheme. Some stacked wooden bowls, stacked wood veneer glasses and a brown/white tea towel I found. In my kitchen I found a carved wooden tea box and green ceramic salt & pepper shakers. On top of the carved wooden box there’s a vintage perfume container that I couldn’t find anywhere, but think outside the box and be creative. Sprinkle a few artificial leaves, pumpkins and gourds and voila!

Side Table

My table beside the couch usually just holds a lamp, some coasters and a bowl for my keys. I thought I could fancy it up by adding Fall accents. I kept the cork leaf coasters and added a wooden riser holding a candle and matches, an amber vase with Fall foliage and a wooden pear that I’ve had for years and years. The Fall foliage was in the bottom of a box that had the old wreath/spray.

With a side table you don’t need a lot to make a big impact and like I said, you can totally use things from around the house except for maybe the Fall foliage.

Coffee Table

Coffee tables are a prime spot to decorate. A candle with matches, a vase with branches or foliage, a bowl or plate and some sort of tray. I used an irregular charcuterie board I had and an antique orange glass shallow bowl for my remotes. I think everyone should have something pretty to hold their remotes. You can even use a closed box if you don’t want to see them all the time.

The wood bowl has been in my kitchen forever and I filled it with some Christmas pinecones and added some fake small pumpkins and gourds with them from the attic box. The vase I used is a thrift store yellow glass reeded pitcher along with some foliage I pulled from another vase. The table runner I’ve also had for years. So shop your home friends, you’ll probably find that you don’t really need to buy a lot and maybe you won’t need to spend a dime.

This is the first photo that I tried to use the background blur technique so don’t come for me please. It’s not perfect but I will continue to work on perfecting my skills.

Display Table

This is my favorite way to do a vignette; a display table which is a table that really doesn’t serve any purpose other than display and of course to put art and/or a mirror above it. You can really go crazy with it! I don’t think I went hog-wild, but this is the one where I used the most color. Yellow, orange, burgundy and red.

The large amber vase I use to collect my corks. Don’t judge. I repurposed it with some foliage from another vase. The black vase with pampas grass is one of two from my business’ accessory inventory. (Real Estate Home Staging) Then there’s the requisite two taper candles with old black holders and matches. I’ve had these striped candles for over 10+ years and don’t ask me why I’ve never used them. But I will now that I found them.

I kept the picture that’s usually on this table and added a garage sale orange plate and a black wooden riser to display the faux gourds and leaves I found in the magic attic box. You can also get gourds this time of the year at the grocery store or a farmer’s market. I saw them the other day at Kroger. Fill in with faux leaves and pumpkins and you have a bountiful display.

So I tried to link everything in the displays with either the exact item or something that works just as well. Let me know what you think and send pictures of your fall decorating if you can. I’m always looking for different ways to decorate and different Fall color palettes.

See ya!
