I had these random legs that I found on the side of the road, for the longest time. That’s what I do. I find things and I think, hey, I could probably make something out of this. This proved to be quite a challenge, even though I knew I was just making a stool which I thought it was in a previous life. Or maybe it was a chair. Who knows, but this is all that was left of it by the time I found it.

The first thing I wanted to do was remove the rusted brackets which I did first and then left the pieces in a pile in my storage room for months. This left me with the task of getting new brackets which took another few months.

This project gave me the excuse to buy an orbital sander which I’ve been wanting for a while. I was so excited to use this and I got right down to it as soon as I got home from Home Depot.

This is after I used my brand new sander to get rid of all the old stain from the legs. After that, I stained them with my favorite stain, Golden Oak by Minwax.

While that was drying, I took on the task of making a seat out of some old plywood I had.  This was the first time I’ve used my jack saw and I was looking forward to it.

I did the old string and pen on a nail trick but as you can see it didn’t work out too well. I don’t know why I couldn’t make a simple circle, but it was definitely an operator error.

After I made a really rough circle, I found some leftover 4” foam and decided to piece it together for the sea. I was going to cover it with batten anyway, so I thought it would be okay. As you can see below, I went through three brace sizes before I found the correct size. I felt like Goldilocks.

After using spray adhesive to attach the foam, I laid out some padding for the seat.

This is after I cut a circle around it making sure there was enough to pull up over the sides.

With my pneumatic stapler, I pulled up the padding very tight and stapled it.

This is how it looked afterwards. As you can see, it didn’t really matter that my circle wasn’t the best.

I hemmed and hawed over what fabric I was going to use. At first I was going to use denim, then I thought black and white, but then I found this rust and cream material that looked like Fall. Such a pretty fabric, so I went with it.

Finally down to the wire. I screwed in the top to the legs with the brackets.

Such a cutie and I didn’t even have to spend any money except on the new brackets which were very inexpensive. Everything else I had already.

Do you have projects that have taken you months to do? I’m always looking at DIY Youtubers, Bloggers and other Creators and always wondering how they can pump out DIY projects week after week. It seems so impossible to me. Maybe I just need to get on a schedule or maybe it’s just my procrastination tendencies. Hmmmm.
