Holiday Gift Guide – 42 Hostess and Host Gifts that’ll Make you look like a Rock Star

Holiday Gift Guide – 42 Hostess and Host Gifts that’ll Make you look like a Rock Star

It’s that time of the year again when we scour the internet and the stores to find the most perfect gift for everybody on our list. Black Friday will be here before we know it and it’s always easier to be ahead of the game than behind. I strive for a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and some years are better than others, but it’s never because of gift giving. It’s one of my most favorite things to do. I like to listen to what people say all year around about what they want in general, take note of their hobbies and interests and create list based on that.

DIY Stool From Some Random Legs

DIY Stool From Some Random Legs

I had these random legs that I found on the side of the road, for the longest time. That’s what I do. I find things and I think, hey, I could probably make something out of this. This proved to be quite a challenge, even though I knew I was just making a stool which I thought it was in a previous life. Or maybe it was a chair. Who knows, but this is all that was left of it by the time I found it.

The Last Fall Arts Festival of the Year

The Last Fall Arts Festival of the Year

It was a beautiful Fall day in the 70’s with a blue sky and puffy clouds. A perfect day for a trip to an arts festival. This was the last one of the season at Chastain Park in Atlanta. I had a hell of a week and started not to come, but my son talked me into it and I’m so glad I went. This is one of my favorite Fall Festivals and it never disappoints. It’s in a wooded area surrounded by trees and with over 100+ vendors, it gives you plenty of variety.

Oktoberfest – A Good Time Was Had by All!

Ah, Oktoberfest in Helen, Ga. It was a heavily anticipated event by me and I couldn’t wait to find some time to go. I’ve been so busy lately so I literally waited until the last weekend and took the time to drive the two hours through the countryside to this Bavarian Village in the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia.

My Renovation Journey – Part 4

My Renovation Journey – Part 4

When I left off last time, I was talking about the fact that my little reno bubble was soon to pop. The misogyny was sneaking in little by little. I was trying to save money, like I usually do and I spoke to the Project Manager about re-glazing the tub instead of buying a new one because it really wasn’t in bad shape. He didn’t really approve of it but it was my house and he was the one that was complaining about the overruns. I told him I was going to handle it myself and he wouldn’t have to worry about it.

The Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles 2023 Serenbe Showhouse – Part 1

On a gorgeous Fall day, I took my annual trip to see the Serenbe Showhouse. It’s about 45 minutes from my house and it was a nice drive in the country once I got off the highway. This year they did something a little different. Instead of a single family home, they took two side by side townhouses and enlisted the help of several interior designers to decorate each one. If you didn’t see the one last year, here’s the blog post. Since I had twice the amount of photographs, I decided to break up the post into two parts. This will be Part 1.

The 12 Best Train Rides in the World

The 12 Best Train Rides in the World

I think there’s something very glamorous about trains and from watching movies about the Orient Express I’ve always wanted to go on a major train journey myself. It harkens back to a time in the U.S. when that was the only way to get across the country in a reasonable time and it ushered in the Industrial Revolution.

The 2024 Colors of the Year

The 2024 Colors of the Year

Although color is subjective, color trend forecasters have been predicting what colors are going to be big every year since   Color marketers base these colors on what’s being introduced in the areas of fashion, furniture, automobiles and other industries. Pantone started the color of the year in 1999 and every year since then it’s been the leader in predicting color trends in our global culture and how to express what people are looking for with color .
