I call things that “Give Me Life” items that make me stop in my tracks, catch the vapors and make my heart skip a beat. Most of these are aspirational but also give me inspiration. Some might require you to sell a kidney to afford it, but it’s not about wanting to buy them although some are really affordable.
I really enjoy making lists or saving pictures of everything that is inspiring or “giving me life” every month. I even tear out magazine pages and keep them for inspiration. It helps me so much in my business and in my personal life to stay creative by looking at beautiful things and reading about their creators or makers.
Seeing beautiful things actually makes me more creative in my business because it forces me to look at things in a different way much like going to a Showhouse or a Model Home. I hope you’re inspired by these like I am.
Homie
I always start off with Interior Decor because that’s usually what catches my eyes on Pinterest and the internet. When I see something I’ve never seen or something I’ve seen but done in a different way, I stop scrolling and get excited. It gets my creative juices going and I think of all the ways it could be used in a design. Here are just a few items I’ve seen over the last month.
These beautiful candles are from one of my favorite places, Anthropologie. They also smell like my favorite apple, Honey Crisp, so it’s a win-win for me.
I love all sorts of containers and these brass ones are stunning, particularly because they have some patina to them.
If you’ve followed my blog at all, you’ll know that I’ve been having a love affair with terrazzo for some time now. I think this is the most beautiful one so far. All the colors I love.
Spoonflower never disappoints with fabric and also with wallpaper. Plaid is having its moment and this Navy Blue and Brown paper is just gorgeous.
Come on now, what?????? I love this round patinated copper bench with the ledge for books. It’s fabulous!
I’ve also been drawn to patterned upholstery lately and this diagonal checkered fabric on this ottoman by Cb2 is giving me all the feels. It’s also in the burgundy color of the season and designed by one of my favorite musicians, Lenny Kravitz.
I can’t even put into words how much I love this coffee table. Made out of cement and with this coral color, it’s too good for words.
Another candle that I just had to include. It’s really a work of art and would be gorgeous anywhere and in any home.
A tabletop chiminea for incense? I never knew I needed this, but I do. So cute.
Foodie
I’m a serious foodie and I love beautifully designed things for the kitchen. I love when a designer or company takes something mundane and takes it up to a level that’s never seen before. That’s my jam, literally. LOL
These rustic handmade plates from Etsy proves once again that Etsy has the best handmade items and artisans on the planet. In my humble opinion of course.
Whoever thought of this needs a standing ovation. So Modern Organic, which is my style in a nutshell and I’m sure everyone would appreciate this. Plus, who doesn’t have one of these on their wish list?
Chips and Dips. It brings back so much nostalgia for when I was growing up. We’d get our Ruffles, sour cream and onion dip and go to town. Just me??? So when this artist combined the dip cup with the chip bowl in such a creative way, I was sold.
A whiskey glass with a copper 3d design. Works for me.
I stopped my scroll when I saw this round 19.5” serving board. You rarely find a round one this large and it’s just rustic enough for me.
This could have been so non-descript, but just the flip of the clay made this exceptional. That’s what I like in an artist.
Tortoise shell and gold. Two of my favorites and I would be eating everything with this beautiful cutlery.
Etsy strikes again for interesting and unique ceramics. The color is special and I love the wabi-sabi of it.
These espresso cups remind me of Dia de los Muertos “Day of the Dead” which is right on time. But they’re also very versatile with the black and white motif.
Personally
I love seeing things that are very personal, whether it’s fashion, jewelry, shoes or just something that makes life easier for someone. I’ve seen some pretty special items this month that I couldn’t wait to share with you.
Keeping up with the Western trend that’s taken off the last part of the year, these cowboy boots are truly giving me life. They’re making me want to be a cowgirl for real.
Toothbrushes? Yes, toothbrushes. Mundane, but these are elevated and I would put these on display in my bathroom.
Cult Gaia is the bomb and this faux fur coat is making me wish I lived in a colder climate. Just statement making.
I always see Hulken bags come up in all of my feeds and since I have one, I had to include this deep red color that’s been trending for fall and will trend next year. I love mine so much and I use it for everything. It really comes in handy for thrifting. Iykyk
Yellow is also trending and this boiled wool coat has all the style. It almost reminds me of a kimono. So stunning.
I love monograms and I don’t know why. I guess I just feel the need to let people know what letter my first name starts with. LOL This chunky one gives me googly eyes though.
Burgundy is THE color of the season and all into next year so these brogues by Clarks are right on trend. But besides that, they are so cool looking.
These clay earrings are so good, I have them in my cart right now. They come in multiple colors but these yellow ones deserve a hand clap.
Well, that’s my list for this month and I’m sticking to it. I love doing these so much and I hope you like them too. Please let me know what’s your favorite in each category and add to my list please.
See ya next time.
