I decided to get my old decorations out to do a purge. I noticed last year that there were some lights that weren’t working, some decorations that were on their last leg and ornaments that were either broken or the color had faded. I’m sure you can relate. I tell myself every year that I’m going to throw some things out and replace them, but I just get so overwhelmed with the holiday to-do list that I just leave them in the bins until the next year.
I promised myself that I was going to do it this year, because I have limited space in my attic room and I really need to get organized. There’s wrapping paper in about three different places, same with the bows and the Christmas bags. If I can get organized and consolidate, then I can do the big purge and I get to buy more decorations. Whoopee!!!!
I’ve been seeing everyone online already putting their decorations up and I’m so behind the eight ball. I usually don’t put them up until the weekend after Thanksgiving, but I need to do the purge and organization so that I can order things to get here before then.
Christmas Lights
Here’s what my Christmas lights look like. A tangled hot mess. I went through them to see if some lights were not working and threw them out.
I definitely will need some more lights for my tree as well as some for outside. I used to have icicle lights on my house years ago, but when I moved I lost them. Here are some options for warm lights, which I love, and cool lights. There’s even an option for solar string lights. I also saw a projector lighting up a house when I was walking my dog and thought it was so cool. Hmmm.

Warm White Outdoor Icicle String Lights with Timer – $45.49
Outdoor String Lights with Timer and Remote 2pk – $29.99

Jingle Bells
Keeping jingle bells on hand is one of my staples. You can make so many crafts with them like ornaments, door hangers, wreaths and the list goes on. You can even just put them in a bowl. I love them so much. Here’s what I have on hand, but I think I need to get some more.
Cowbells are on my wish list this year. I love the vintage looking ones and how good they look when hung in a row. I also sourced jingle bells in gold and silver. I think I’ll get the assorted ones with all different sizes in a vintage gold color. The ones that have four bells staggered together would be great as a door hanger.
Rustic Gold Christmas Cowbells – Set of 4 – $34.99

Reindeer Love
I love reindeer and I have some that for the life of me, I can’t find. There’s one big gold one and smaller gold ones. I tore my attic up looking for them. They’ll show up eventually, but I had to take a break. In the meantime, here’s a picture of how I used to decorate my office with the reindeer with pictures of my son when he was little and had his Christmas outfits on. Cute, right?
Here’s what I found for reindeer options. From black, to gold and silver, they really make a statement on a mantle or a tablescape. There’s even a set that doubles as tea light holders.
Black Resin Reindeer Sculptures – $26.99
Gold Resin Modern Reindeer Figurines – $17.85
Rustic Vintage Bronze Reindeer Statues – $21.99
Silver Collectible Reindeer Figurines – $27.00
Gold Resin Reindeer Figurines – $19,99
Reindeer Tea Light Candle Holders 6pk – $22.99
Tabletop Decor
After purging a lot of Christmas Decor, I found this old sleigh and debated keeping it. I decided to keep it and try to update and modernize it. Maybe not for this Christmas, but in the future.
I pretty much have all the tabletop and Christmas decor that I need, but I could always use some taper candles. The ones below are very unique in color and the green bubble candles are a lot of fun. I love brass, so the holders are a no-brainer for me and the sleigh reminds me of my sleigh. You can always fill it with ornaments, a poinsettia, pine cones, fruit, etc. The garland and trees can make a table all by itself. Just add the candles and you have a great tablescape. I never knew those glasses were called “hobnail”, but I like the vintage look of them.
Glittered Red Iron Santa Sleigh – $38.50
12pc Burgundy Taper Candles – $19.58
Christmas Faux Pine Garland – $58.79
Gold Taper Candle Holders 12pk – $24.99
Green Hobnail Glasses – Set of 12 – $59.99
Canadian Pine Mini Christmas Trees 3pk- $16.99
Olive Bubble Taper Candles 4pk – $17.99
Holiday Storage
After looking at how I stored my Christmas decorations below, I found out that I wasn’t doing as bad as I thought. I just needed to label things better and maybe get a few more ideas for some items. And maybe clean up my attic. Hah.
I found a better wrapping paper storage bag. Mine did not accommodate long rolls of paper as you can see rolls sticking out of the end. There’s a ribbon box that would be perfect and boxes for my bows because inevitably, I always have smushed bows the next year. I like to keep the bows from opening presents if they’re not in bad shape, because why not? My string lights could use the racks that you can wind the lights around. If you’re like me, you hate having to untangle lights every year.
Christmas Wrapping Paper Storage – $22.99
Christmas Tree and Wreath Storage Bag Set – $20.99
Holiday Decor Storage Boxes 3pk – $39.99
Heavy Duty Stackable Storage Totes 2pk – $71.09
Clear Ornament Stackable Storage Bins – $63.72
Light Organizer Storage Containers 2pk – $36.99
Well, there you have it. I’ve purged old stuff and found some new stuff. I hope I’ve give you some encouragement to purge your Christmas Decorations and what you can get to replace everything. I feel much better now. Whew!
Let me know if you have a good system of organization for your Christmas decor. I’m always looking for different and easy ways to store them.
See ya next time.
