Skeletons, skeletons and more skeletons. That’s the theme of this Halloween it seems. I always walk my dog in the morning and I’ve been taking pictures of my neighbor’s Halloween decorations. They go up pretty early around here and it’s so much fun to see what they’ve done. Now, I don’t usually decorate for Halloween outside, but I do decorate inside with a Fall Harvest theme. When I was looking through my gallery on my phone I decided to make a blog post about decorating outside and where you can get some of the decorations. You don’t really have to do much to make it feel like the holiday is coming. Some of my neighbors went all out and some just did small touches. So here’s a round-up of some of my neighbors’ most creative ideas.

This twelve foot skeleton is massive and scares my dog every time we go past it. Very imposing and that’s all they really need to make an impact.

I found a twelve foot skeleton at Home Depot and it even has LCD eyes that move, blink and light up at night. You can either plug it in or use C batteries. It also comes with a stand and is made out of a durable product so you can use it year after year.

This guy is so much fun. He really has a personality, doesn’t he? My neighbor just put him up and it really made me laugh.

This is the same house and my neighbor always has a different scene of what his skeletons are doing and it always makes me stop. Last year they were climbing up the house and were all over the roof.

Here is a good option for the skeletons and they are able to be posed any way you want. You can move the arms and legs and the joints lock in place. These might be even the same ones used in the pictures above. They’re five feet tall and are made of durable outdoor plastic.

Another fun skeleton scene with animals. I don’t know what made them do this scene, but it’s funny.

Grab this small dog holding a bone. I think it makes them not so scary and they’re also only 11” tall..

This house always puts their skeleton on the second floor balcony, but this year they have some on the ground too.

Here’s a bigger 21” dog skeleton that has a bendable tail and a movable head and jaw.

Just chilling with the homies. Pose your skeleton anywhere and make him do something that a human would. So much fun!

This rat skeleton makes me scared, very scared. It’s the tail; just no. The tail and the jaw can move. No, no, no.

Came around the corner and saw this. Scared my dog again, but she’s a scaredy cat anyway.The wind was blowing and making it move. Made me jump too.

This is the closest thing I could find, but I think it gives the same kind of vibe with the gauzy clothes.

Another shady character. I don’t know what it’s supposed to be doing but I don’t even care. I got out of there as quickly as I could.

I would wrap this around a skeleton to make the character above. Sometimes you just have to DIY it.

This house has a lot going on in this scene. It looks like they’re having a party. I would get some skeletons and dress them up in various clothes or costumes from Goodwill. Looks like there is a clown, the Grim Reaper and some scary dude all the way to the left. I asked my neighbor how he made the headstones and he said he cut them out of styrofoam, spray painted them gray and then he just wrote whatever he wanted on them.

Another party scene. There’s spiders, spiderwebs, ghosts and other ghouls at this party. Haha.

This set of cobwebs and spiders goes a long way. You could always stop at that if you just wanted to do a little something in the front yard.

These ghosts come six to a pack and make a dramatic scene if hung all along the front of the house and/or from trees. They are 30” tall and come with bendable arms, which can give you all sorts of ideas on what to do with that. Hmmm.

A cemetery with a skeleton coming out of the ground. I didn’t take a really good picture, but you can tell there’s something in the ground.

You can buy this skeleton coming out of the ground and the pirate scarf even comes with it. All you have to do is insert the stakes of the head, arms and legs into the ground. The joints allow them to be moved any way you want as well as the mouth.

Build your own cemetery with these 16” plastic headstones. They come with two stakes each to make it easy to stick in the ground.

These heads were so unexpected right by the curb. That’s all they had in terms of decorations but I think it was enough, don’t you?

These do the same trick plus you can light the eyes up at night for an extra scary sight.

So there you have it. That’s what my neighborhood is doing outside for Halloween. To sum it up, skeletons are in, at least in my hood. It’s fun and it makes me think about actually trying to do something next year. I don’t think I have the bandwidth right now to try something this year.
