I love black houses and black walls so much. I even have a whole board devoted to black walls on my Pinterest. What I love is that it can go glam, farmhouse, traditional, industrial, mid-century modern, rustic; just about any style would work. I actually chickened out when I renovated my house and went with a light and medium tone gray on the exterior. I did paint my master bedroom walls black. Well, 2 walls. The other 2 walls are cream. Maybe one day I’ll get the courage to go all in…..sigh. Here are some of my favorites.
Black Focal Points
If you just want to dip your toes in the water, like I did, here are some ideas to create a focal point using black.

Black Bedrooms
These bedrooms are the ultimate in coziness. Envelope your walls and ceilings, use black wallpaper or even match the drapes to the walls. There are a lot of ways to use black in your intimate space.

Black Bathrooms
If you don’t want to commit to black in your primary living space or bedroom, a powder room is the perfect way to use this mysterious color. The powder rooms below are a perfect example of experimentation.

Black Living Room
This requires throwing caution to the wind and going for it since everybody will be able to see it when they come to your home. A wall painted black is a perfect way to make a gallery wall pop. Use light colored furniture to make the room a little brighter or if you have plenty of natural light you can use dark colored furniture.

Black Office
A black office can be counterintuitive since everyone is usually looking for a light and bright place to work, but a black office can be very comforting. It can make you feel like you’re in your own little world which is good for getting work done.

Black Dining Room
This is my favorite dining room below. From the painting of all 4 walls to the green (my favorite color) pendant lights. The brown chairs add an earthiness to this very sophisticated room. Love, love, love. The next one is a very posh dining room that uses mid-century modern chairs with a bold purple rug. The next one is modern farmhouse mixed with industrial touches.

Black Exteriors
A black exterior will go with any architectural style as evidenced by the houses below. There’s a city rowhouse, a mid-century house, a cottage and a farmhouse.

What do you think? Would you paint your house or walls black? Let me know in the comments. Also, let me know if you would like me to do Part 2.
